Piece of Upholstery from Hermann Göring’s Berchtesgaden Home-This is a piece of upholstery cut from a “Göring’s bed”. It measures approx. 6 inches square, and is a beautifully piece of heavy tapestry like upholstery that depicts an embroidered lion. This was brought home by a veteran named Robert Anderson, Serial number 0-1482379, who was a 2nd Lt in the Signals Corp, a detached service with the 10th field artillery who was serving at the time with the 3rd division. He was with one of the early teams to enter the Berchtesgaden area even before the paratroopers. He was able to recover some items from Göring’s train and put them in a parachute recovery bag. This piece is one of the items he brought back.
