This Matchbox Holder was part of the Tobacco Set that also included a Cigar Box, Cigarette Box, Cigar Cutter, Candle Holder and Tray.
The Tobacco Set is seen at the Berghof, Eagle’s Nest and Fuhrerbau in many classic Hoffmann photographs.
The Matchbox Holder measures approximately 4 ½ x 1 ½ x 2 ¾ inches. The top of the box is bordered by the well known Grecian key pattern trim. In the center is an embossed political eagle with wings, and a swastika flanked by the initials “A.H.” The bottom of the box is marked with the maker’s logo and the silver content of 925.
